DanceNOW Opens its One Man Show Tonite!
DanceNOW [NYC] is pleased to present One-Man Show, an hour-long musical written, choreographed and performed by John Heginbotham, as part of its Dancemopoltian series at Joe’s Pub!
Here’s a snapshot: John wakes from a coma to find himself center stage at the legendary East Village cabaret, Joe’s Pub. His dying wish has been granted – He will finally star in his own one-man show. Confronted with just one hour to live, John dances and sings to the point of diminishing returns. Two caregivers and a disembodied frontal lobe-cum-pianist provide the entertainment. Expect Joseph Papp, Ginger Rogers, The Wooster Group, dissociative identity disorder, Nichols and May, Andy Warhol, Dance Dance Revolution, and the First Lady of the One-Man Show, Tony Award winner Elaine Stritch to all play a part. One-Man Show stars John Heginbotham and features a cast of thousands, including Aaron Mattocks, Daniel Pettrow and Elizabeth DeMent.
Original music by Julia Meinwald, lyrics by Gordon Leary, and costumes by Maile Okamura.
