DanceNYC Mid-Season Symposium

Dance/NYC will be hosting its first ever Dance/NYC Mid-Season Symposium February 5 and 6, with programming specific to dance in New York, and Sydney will be a presenter on the day of the symposium!

His presentation - Latest Technologies Impacting the Dance Field, which he will present alongside Marc Kirschner of TenduTV and Fred Benenson of kickstarter.com - will be just one of four presentations held between 8:30 AM and 6 PM on February 6th at 3LD Art & Technology Center (80 Greenwich St. at Rector St. NYC).

The event kicks off with a welcome reception on February 5th at the Rubin Museum of Art's K2 Lounge (150 W. 17th St. at 6th Ave., NYC) co-hosted by Dance/NYC's Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) and Arts & Business Council of New York's Emerging Leaders of New York Arts (ELNYA). The reception will be open at no charge to all members of the dance community from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with a VIP cocktail hour from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM for all general session symposium registrants.

There will be 2 smaller breakout sessions on insurance, hosted by Fractured Atlas, and healthcare, hosted by The Actor's Fund, at the symposium, as well as one-on-one SmartBar sessions with experts in the field. SmartBar experts will include Lois Welk of Dance/USA Philadelphia, Peter DiMurio of Dance/MetroDC, Jodi Krizer Graber of Bravo! Wellness, entertainment attorney, Natalie Sanford, and consultant and former Executive Director of Doug Varone and Dancers, Caterina Bartha. Both the breakout sessions and the SmartBar will be offered at no charge.

The symposium offers something for everyone in dance including dancers, managers, board members and funders, and dance students. Programming is relevant for small, medium, and large-sized dance organizations and can also be applicable to organizations in other arts disciplines or in the for-profit sector.
