You hear about the importance of SEO all the time...but what IS it?!

It goes without saying (we hope) that search engines are an essential tool in garnering website traffic. A greater number of people stumbling upon your awesome Design Brooklyn designed website (and if it’s not DB designed yet, that can be arranged!) while searching, means a broader audience reached and consequently more potential customers!

I get it...SEO is important - but how does it work?

SEO is an acronym for Search Engine Optimization which refers to the formatting of website content such that can be easily found and contextualized by search engines. Search engines evaluate your content and determine what your site and the pages within are all about.

When a search engine user completes a search query for a particular word or phrase, the search engine attempts to rank and display the most relevant results. If your content is extremely relevant to that query, your page will display at the top end of the search results. If not, you may end up somewhere in the middle - or worse yet, not at all.

Sounds simple enough. how do I get started?

The most basic approach to achieve SEO utilizes a set of best practices (some of which are published by search engines themselves) to help ensure that your content is well formatted and search engine friendly. Some common sense steps include making your site easy to navigate, creating rich content, creating unique & descriptive page titles and using proper heading tags. By completing a few simple steps, your content should start moving up in search results.

I've got some stiff competition. How do I outrank my competitors?

Depending on your SEO goals and competition, you may need to pull out the big guns to improve your ranking. This can include advanced strategies such as ongoing keyword-relevant content creation, cross-linking strategies, and search engine marketing. At Design Brooklyn, we work with you to evaluate your goals and competition in order to create a plan of action that will achieve the desired result.
